Galettes are a French dessert. I actually prefer them over pie. This year, consider making this easy recipe over the traditional pie!
I found the prep time for this galette to be faster and easier than if I were to make the usual deep-dish apple pie (recipe for another day). It looks fancier, but this could be a beginner’s recipe.
There are a few steps to the process, which include an egg wash. Other than that, this recipe is one that you can quickly make and pop into the oven!
One trick I use: I season the pie crust first. Before I lay down any fruit, the sugars and spices I’ll be using on the fruit, I put on the pie crust. For example, for this apple galette, I used brown sugar and cinnamon. Thus, before laying down a single apple, I dusted cinnamon and brown sugar over the area of the pie crust where the apple would go (mainly center).
As per usual, I used a baking stone. I find it whatever I’m making cooks more evenly than on a baking sheet. However, if you’re stretched for time or cash, a baking sheet with parchment works just fine.

This looks mouth watering! I’m such an apple girl, cooked apples, apple pie, they’re all my favorites!
