Butternut squash is a delightful fall treat! I look forward to this time of year for the various squashes that come to harvest. Most recipes that I’ve come across say to bake the fries. However, every time I’ve done this, they come out as mush. If you want the delicious crispness of fries with your squash, you have to fry it. They come out crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.
I picked up Trader Joe’s truffle cheese. Another method of adding truffle is to pick up a truffle and grate it into the cheese sauce. Truffles are an Italian delicacy, which makes them rare and hard to find. In the US, Trade Joe’s had two different kinds of truffle cheese. Whole Foods also has some great options in their cheese section. Check at your specialty food stores to see if they have truffle cheese. Some Italian import stores will also carry it.
