For many, this can be a time of loneliness and feeling a little lost. While those are normal feelings to have, especially if you just got out of a relationship, it doesn’t have to end there.
This time of being single is your time. You are the one calling all the shots. You can do whatever you want right now with no reservations. Take advantage of this time to do the things you love and explore new ideas.
I’m walking you through several ideas to get you started on how to make the most out of being single.
1. Learn to cook.
There’s so many great resources and free recipes out there. We all have to start somewhere with our cooking skills. And, hey, you don’t have to impress anyone right now. It just has to be semi-edible, which is totally doable. Check out a Pinterest board if you want some fun ideas!
2. Solo travel.
Solo traveling is one of the best things I ever did. I allowed me to be so much more confident in myself, especially during times of stress (like almost missing my connecting international flight). You can literally book a ticket to anywhere in the world, see what you want to see, eat what you want to eat. Be sure to bring a tripod so you can still get yourself in photos!
3. Host girls’ nights.
Forget trying to score a decent Tinder date and instead actually guarantee a fun night. You can either host the girls’ nights or go to hosted ones. Now is an amazing time to reconnect with all your girlfriends and grow those strong female friendships.

Check something off your bucket list that has been on it forever. Go do something that is so far out of your comfort zone people will need to see photo evidence to believe it. Just be sure that whatever it is, you’re being safe!
5. Go after a ridiculously big goal.
You have all the space to see what you’re made of right now. Leverage this time to go after crazy, big goals. Even if you end up falling short, you’ll end up achieving way more than if never set to it at all.
6. Take on a new skill.
Try a new hobby. Attend some meetups. Join a bookclub. Explore things that you normally wouldn’t go for to see if you discover something new. You never know when you might stumble upon a new skill that you love!
7. Heal from your past.
It’s the best time to focus on you and there’s no better way to do it than to work on healing your past hurts and traumas. It’s well worth checking in with a therapist or counselor, even if you feel like your past hurts aren’t “big” enough. We all deserve to heal from the things that have hurt us. If you’re still holding onto pain, it’s okay to let it go.
